Adirondack Furniture |
Adirondack furniture has a classical simplicity and beauty appreciated by many customers. I spent a long time looking for and refining the design of the Adirondack chairs and tables shown below. In particular, the chairs are distinctive and extremely comfortable due to the curved back, contoured seat, and carefully proportioned armrests.
Since my Adirondack chair design is high-end, I also use wood species not typically found in most Adirondack chairs. Although the western red cedar lumber is commonly used in outdoor furniture, the ipe lumber that I use is hard to find in Adirondack chair designs. Click here to learn more about the unique properties of ipe lumber and it's value in outdoor furniture. The ambrosia maple version that I build is totally exclusive to Heirloom Woodcrafting.
In every piece of Adirondack furniture, I use solid stainless steel screws that will never corrode or cause black streaks in the wood. On the cedar and ipe chairs and tables shown below, you can elect to leave the wood untreated, allowing it to achieve a natural, aged patina. I prefer the appearance and added protection provided by a spar varnish finish on all these pieces.
