This set of painted maple cabinetry was built for use as a small home office in the client's Buckhead townhome. Located in a shallow alcove in an elegant sitting room, the cabinetry provides storage space for a computer and various office supplies, as well as decorative display space for some of the client's dinnerware. Finally, this cabinetry is "capped off" with a distressed and glazed solid walnut desktop, to provide the appearance of an aged piece of antique furniture, which the client collects.
As shown in the photos above, these premium cabinets include a number of upscale features selected by the client during the design process, including:
The upper cabinets are primarily devoted to home office storage, but the center section, with it's arched top rail and built-in accent lighting, provide some decorative display space for a more upscale look. The shelves in this section have beaded wooden edges (for a traditional look), but the centers of the shelves are actually tempered glass, allowing the halogen lighting to travel down through the entire display section. This shelving concept has been very popular with a number of my clients.
The center section of the base cabinetry is a hidden flip-down pull-out keyboard tray and auxiliary work surface (in addition to the desktop). A tower computer is housed in the right-side base cabinet on a large pull-out tray for easier cabling access. The left-side base cabinet has 3 concealed roll-out drawers for optimal use of space.
The cabinetry was painted with a color-matched pigmented conversion varnish that precisely matches the trim and molding color in the sitting room. In addition to being extremely durable, the conversion varnish provides an ultra-smooth semi-gloss luster requested by the client. These smooth, shiny surfaces contrast beautifully with the dark, rich color of the distressed solid walnut desktop.
72" wide, 97" tall, and 21" deep.

Cabinet pricing is dependent on a wide variety of factors that can drastically alter the final cost. Cabinet quantities/sizes, material selection, construction methods, accessories, and finishes all impact the pricing. The painted cabinets shown on this page cost approximately $6,900, including materials, labor, and installation.
