Description

These distinctive kitchen cabinets were created as the centerpiece of a set of projects constructed using lumber sawn from antique timbers.  Of all the projects built using this one-of-a-kind lumber (see links to other projects below), the kitchen cabinetry provided the largest "canvas" on which to exhibit the unique character and color of the wood.  All other design elements for the cabinets were selected so as to complement the look of the antique lumber.  The raised panel doors used throughout the kitchen have lightly distressed and "softened" edges and profiles to give the appearance of age-worn surfaces.  All functional hardware (hinges and drawer slides) are fully concealed so only the wood is visible.  The aged bronze decorative hardware has a hand-hammered look, which nicely matches the character of the woodwork.  Finally, a clear finish was applied to the wood allowing the deep golden color of the antique white oak to come through unaltered and the satin sheen insures the old wood doesn't look to "shiny and new".

The cabinet boxes themselves are frameless in design, providing the maximum amount of storage capacity in all kitchen areas.  Cabinet interiors are all prefinished maple plywood, for beauty and durability.  All drawer boxes are solid maple with dovetailed construction and they ride on undermount drawer slides with soft-close mechanisms, which are a nice high-end contrast to the rustic appearance of the cabinet exteriors.  Door hinges are Euro-style self-closing models that are completely hidden.  Other cabinet upgrades include a large side panel to fully build-in the fridge, a custom wine storage rack on the outside of the peninsula, and under-cabinet accent lighting that nicely illuminates the warm brown Silestone countertops.

Cabinet pricing is dependent on a wide variety of factors that can drastically alter the final cost.  Cabinet quantities/sizes, material selection, construction methods, accessories, and finishes all impact the pricing.  The kitchen cabinets shown on this page cost approximately $9,900 for construction and installation labor, but does not include costs for the specially milled white oak lumber.
