Built to match the aesthetics of a Veneered Writing Desk commissioned previously by the client, this small file storage cabinet was constructed to provide auxiliary storage space for office supplies. Since the writing desk design was intentionally Spartan in nature, the need for this drawered cabinet emerged after the desk had been used for a while. In order to visually blend in with the desk, matching afrormosia veneer from the desk project was grain-matched vertically across the drawer fronts, creating a linear pattern that mimics the elements of the desk. The case of the cabinet is dark stained mahogany, as are the drawer boxes, which matches other cabinetry in the home office. The drawers ride on fully-concealed undermount drawer slides with built-in soft-close mechanisms and the entire cabinet rests on hidden casters so it can be easily moved in relation to the desk.

Though this file cabinet is relatively small, it's highly custom nature results in a price of $1,100. This includes the specially veneered drawer fronts with sequenced grain pattern, mahogany case & drawer boxes, and hidden undermount drawer slides with soft-close mechanisms.
