Description

This set of painted maple cabinetry was built for playroom use by the client's two children.  A fruitless search had been previously conducted by the client for quality cabinetry that would fit the available space, before turning to my custom services.  The cabinets were designed with the specific needs of the children in mind:

Due to the anticipated wear-and-tear to the cabinetry from the children, they were made from dent-resistant hard maple and were painted with an extremely durable and scratch-resistant pigmented conversion varnish (far more durable than ordinary indoor paint).  To give the cabinets a more a distinctive and upscale look, the butternut-colored finish was glazed, providing further accents to the raised panel doors, crown moldings, etc.  The glazing also gave the client the potential option to reuse these cabinets in other locations in the house once the children had outgrown the need for them.

Finally, while these cabinets are attached to the wall for the children's safety, those retaining screws can be removed and then approximately one dozen KD bolts (knock-down bolts) can be quickly removed, allowing the cabinets to be easily transported as 6 separate modules.  Thus, while they appear to be built-in, the client's investment in these quality cabinets can be preserved by moving them to a new home if the occasion arises.

Approximate Dimensions
