Discerning furniture buyers and home owners insist on custom-built furniture and cabinetry for a number of important reasons, as described below.
Consider the following questions:
Have you seen a furniture design that you like, but the wood species used or the finish applied was not ideal for your purposes?
Do you have a uniquely shaped or sized area in your home that demands a custom piece of furniture or cabinetry?
Do you need a new piece of furniture that must match your existing collection of pieces and have been unable to find that match in commercially-produced furniture?

One of the most obvious benefits of custom-built furniture and cabinetry is that you don't have to compromise when you make purchase decisions like the ones described above. Since it's not already built and sitting in a showroom, you have total control over all aspects of the design - the size, style, wood species, trim & molding details, decorative hardware, and finish can all be changed to meet your requirements.

Many couples starting families often cannot afford to buy heirloom-quality furniture or top-quality cabinetry, and even if they can, often choose less expensive pieces due to the rugged use they will receive from young children. However, after years of owning "disposable" furniture or cabinetry, many empty-nesters are now looking for finely built pieces that are more luxurious and will stand the test of time. In fact, as the name of my company implies, these pieces will not only be enjoyed for a lifetime by their owners, but will be passed down to future generations as a family heirloom.
Further, astute homeowners have long recognized the increase in home equity achieved by installing quality kitchen/bathroom cabinets and other built-in components (entertainment centers, home theaters, home offices, library units, etc.). Studies have shown these improvements return up to 150% of the money spent as an increase in appraised home value.
Prices for custom built furniture and cabinetry are generally higher than those found in high-end factory showrooms, but not in all cases. I'm still surprised at the ticket prices displayed at some factory showrooms. Given that custom-made furniture will be built to your exact specifications with no compromises, isn't it worth paying a little more? A quote, sometimes attributed to Benjamin Franklin, makes this point perfectly:
" The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price has been forgotten".
More importantly, realize that properly built custom furniture will appreciate over time, unlike mass-produced pieces that literally begin to depreciate from the moment it's loaded onto a truck for delivery to your home.
