Description

This one-of-a-kind bathroom vanity was created for a small powder room in the client's home.  It's curved-front is partitioned into two doors which, along with the cabinet sides, have been covered in stunning Macassar ebony veneer.  The ebony veneer on each of the door panels has been bookmatched to create the symmetrical pattern seen in the photos above - the cabinet sides are similarly bookmatched.  Hidden Euro-style door hinges and small black door knobs keep the cabinet nearly hardware-free so that the emphasis is on the unique wood grain.  Matching tapered legs, crafted from solid ebony, lift the cabinet off the floor and give it a much more furniture-like appearance.

In order to tie the vanity cabinet more closely together with the floral pattern in the custom Kohler sink, the lacquer finish has been tinted with a deep burgundy tone, which picks up the color of the moth orchid blossoms in the sink.  Though its difficult to see in the photos due to the dark coloration, the cabinet finish has a nearly "candy apple" appearance that is very striking.  To complete the project, an ebony-veneered mirror frame was created and finished to match the vanity cabinet.
